Q:

How would you best describe your agency and your services?

A:

Our agency was founded in 2021 by Patricia McGee.  At the time of inception we offered solely community based programming for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism.  We then began to include more diverse programming and have expanded over the years to include In Home and Community Supports, Community Participation Supports, Companion Care, Housing Transition and Tenancy Sustaining Service, Supported Living and Residential Licensed Group Homes.

Q:

What were you looking for in a pharmacy when you began your search?

A:

We really needed a pharmacy that not only understood the importance of our individuals being on the right medications and getting their medications timely, but also one that had a broad comprehension of what The Office of Developmental Programs mandates as their standard practices for medication management

Q:

What made you partner with Hartzell's for Aegis Solutions and the individuals in your care?

A:

A few things.... First and foremost you came highly recommended by other agencies and even some of our own staff.  In our initial conversations, I was surprised to learn that you have an ODP medication certified employee on staff.  This was a relief just knowing there was someone who really understands our medication regulations and standards.  After hearing all that Hartzell's has to offer, we were glad to make the transition

Q:

What is something that you were surprised to learn about Hartzell's after you transitioned?

A:

A few things!  As a 24/7 agency we need to have open and fluid communication with our vendors, including our pharmacy.  Utilizing backline - a HIPPA compliant messaging service that connects us directly to the pharmacy, the pharmacists and techs has saved us so much time.  The after-hour on-call service is also really important for us as well.  Knowing we have an outlet for emergences, ER visits or last minute hospital discharges is always a comfort.

Q:

How has your transition to your electronic MAR (Medication Administration Record) been?

A:

New technology is never easy but Hartzell's has really assisted us with the transition from paper to full electronic MARs.  We were so happy to know that we had a really diverse pool of EMar's to choose from since your pharmacy connects with so many 3rd party vendors.  It was nice having the ability to research which EMar worked best with our facility, rather than only having one or two other choices.

Q:

Is there a particular service Hartzell's offers that Aegis just wouldn't be able to live without?

A:

So many!  But I would say its a tie between your rapid pak packaging system and your Pick-up Kiosk.  All the individuals we serve have Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism.  We assist many in their own homes and assist with administration in one form or another.  The PakMyMeds packaging system makes taking your medications so simple and easy - our individuals really rely on that packaging to remain independent.  And of course - the Kiosk!  As a 24/7 agency knowing we can pick up medications for our individuals literally whenever we want has been such a lifesaver!  In our business anything can happen at any time, but knowing the pharmacy "never closes" because we have Kiosk pick-up is such a relief.  Our staff love using it - put the code in, and take the medications out.  So simple, but such an amazing convenience.
